Dubai Market Trends & News

Dubai is gearing up for a smoother summer commute! The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has kicked off one of its most ambitious projects yet: a full-scale traffic upgrade across 40 key locations in the city. From June to September 2025, this initiative will target major roads, school zones, and development hotspots, designed to ease congestion, enhance road safety, and support the city’s unstoppable urban growth.

Whether you're a daily commuter, a family resident, or a forward-thinking investor, these improvements signal a future-ready Dubai with smarter, faster, and safer roads.

In this blog, we’ll explore the upgraded areas, what’s changing, and why it matters for anyone living, working, or investing in Dubai.

What’s Included in the Summer Traffic Upgrade?

The RTA’s summer initiative covers a wide range of locations, strategically chosen to have the biggest impact on Dubai’s traffic flow and long-term city planning.

22 Main Roads

Expect smoother travel on some of Dubai’s busiest streets, including:

  • Jumeirah Village Circle (towards Hessa Street)
  • Ras Al Khor Road
  • Al Thanya Street
  • King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street
  • Al Meydan Street
  • Al Sa’ada Street
  • Al Asayel Street

Plus a much-needed upgrade at the junction of Al Wasl Street and Al Manara Street

School Zones Get a Safety Boost

To make drop-offs and pickups safer, 9 school zones are being upgraded with features like:

  • New access roads at Al Warqa 1 school complex
  • Additional bus entrance at GEMS School in Al Warqa 3
  • Expanded access around The English College in Al Safa 1
  • Signal-controlled pedestrian crossing on Al Seedaf Street in Al Barsha 1

These changes are timed perfectly with the summer break to reduce disruption and keep school areas safe when the new academic year begins.

Supporting Dubai’s Urban Growth

Dubai’s population and real estate market are booming, and RTA is staying ahead of the curve. Five key development zones are being enhanced to support new communities, including:

  • A direct access road to Al Muhaisnah labour camps from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road
  • Upgrades to Al Mustaqbal Street (Brookfield) for easier access to new neighborhoods
  • Improved connectivity between Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street via Al Marabea’ Street
  • Intersection improvements in Nad Al Hamar near Lootah Mosque
  • New parking facilities at Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Al Muteena 1

Upgrades to Local Districts

In addition to major roads and development zones, several local districts are also seeing enhancements aimed at improving internal traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Areas such as the Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2, Nad Al Sheba, Al Warqa, and Jebel Ali Industrial 1 will undergo internal roadworks to facilitate better neighborhood access and smoother movement within communities. Meanwhile, Al Quoz Creative Zone is receiving newly designed pedestrian walkways, aligning with Dubai’s broader vision of promoting walkability and creating more people-friendly urban spaces.

Why It Matters

These upgrades go beyond surface-level roadworks, they represent a strategic investment in Dubai’s future. By improving connectivity, easing congestion, and enhancing safety across the city, the RTA is directly supporting the quality of life for residents and the long-term value of surrounding properties. Whether you’re commuting to work, managing school drop-offs, or investing in Dubai’s dynamic real estate market, these enhancements mean faster travel times, safer streets, and stronger infrastructure, key factors in a thriving, future-ready city.

Dubai is on the move literally. With the RTA’s summer traffic upgrade, the city is paving the way for smarter mobility, safer neighborhoods, and more livable communities.
